In the late winter of 2019, James and Charlotte started working on building our kitchen garden at the farm – our vision was to create a formal garden where visitors in the future would be able to enjoy the plants and flowers all while creating a little piece of paradise.
With Charlotte holding one end of the tape measure and James the other, we marked out the paths, where the hedges would be planted, and started to slowly establish our new garden. Now in 2023, the soil that had been moved and tracked by a digger to form a flat garden and hardly had a worm in sight, is teeming with worms and full of bees and butterflies come summer. A constant supply of pig manure has helped turn the soil into a dark humous filled oasis for out of sight garden creatures!
